After all, this isn't a political thriller.īut that doesn't happen. In other hands the theme that reveals what is truly behind the power struggle within the Sûreté could have come off as laughable overreaching. This was a re-read for me and once again I was struck by the fact that Penny somehow makes this all work. In this book, both of these are also tied to national issues. ![]() ![]() As usual there are multiple major plot lines playing out in parallel, one at the level of a personal crime and one involving the politics of the Sûreté de Québec. This is definitely one of my favorites in the Gamache series. ![]()
